We are pleased to announce that following a good win against Davenham on Tuesday, Christleton U13s have made the finals of the 2019 North Cheshire Junior Cricket Association Cup. Having won the toss Christleton Captain Thomas Duffy had no hesitation in electing to bat first. Following a slow start Toby Holland (25) and Freddie Heyland (55n.o.) put on over 60 for the 2nd wicket with a selection of sound defensive shots & aggressively putting the bad balls away for boundaries. Aaron Joinson scored a quickfire 15 at the death to take the total to an imposing 139 off their 20 overs.
Davenham started off launching the ball to all parts of the ground as their openers went about their task admirably. But Oli Neve took the crucial wicket in his 2nd over which slowed up the run rate and allowed Christleton to regain control off the game. Wickets fell consistently throughout the next 16 overs, Joinson again enjoying success with the ball & Monty Robson took two crucial catches which allowed Christleton to cruise to a comfortable 30 run victory.
This game marks the end of what has been a fantastic season for the U13s – we have seen significant improvement across all areas, a real sense of team unity & camaraderie has developed and some of the cricket we have witnessed this year has been very pleasing.
The final will be played on September 8th against Weaverham.
