Middlewich v Christleton

After another wet  start to the day play eventually got under way at 3.15 with a 30 overs a side game.

OP won the toss and asked Christleton to bat first.  Hards (45-4) getting Park off to a good start by removing Naseer (0) second ball. Walters (8) was joined at the crease by De Siva (52), he and Walters moved the score to 21 when Walters was given out LBW.

Ali Marks (4) and Gittins (8) followed and both struggled with the pace of Hards and East (58-2). Gittins and De Silva had added 41 when De Silva was joined by O’Connell (19no). Gaynon (7) and Barr (5no) saw the overs out, Christleton ending with 113 off their 30 overs.

Moore(9) and Hyslop (7) came to the crease requiring 114 at under 4 an over, and they got off to a flyer with 10 coming from the first over, but things began to change when Johnson (42-6) and Parkinson (35-1) removed Park’s top four batsmen with only 34 on the board.

East (37) and Kettle (14) put 32 runs together when Kettle became another Johnson wicket caught Barr. East was fighting hard but not getting a lot of support from the tail who struggled after Naseer (21-3) joined the attack.

Park got to the final over needing 7 runs but East fell to the penultimate ball from Johnson giving Christleton the much needed 25 points with a two run win.
